Republican Presidential Candidate Gary Johnson

Of all the GOP candidates running for the 2012 primaries, there’s only one candidate I could stand to vote for. I watched the CNN Republican debate last month and I found that every single candidate had said at least one thing that would preclude me from supporting them, whether it be opposition to ending DADT, supporting a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage, or creating the inspiration for Obamacare. There was one candidate that night who wasn’t present, because he wasn’t invited. That candidate was former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson.

Gary Johnson is both more fiscally conservative than any Republican running and more socially liberal than most Democrats. He stood alone in directly opposing the now infamous Family Leader marriage pledge, calling it “offensive and unrepublican.” He’s also the only candidate who’s promising to balance the budget on day one, promising an across the board budget cut of 43% in spending. He can back up that promise via the 750 vetoes under his belt as Governor of New Mexico. Johnson, while lacking in popularity makes up for it with honesty, integrity and providing a much needed voice to fiscal conservatives, libertarians, independents and anyone else who likes economic freedom served with a side of social tolerance.
